Sue Apple was an amazing person who touched many lives.
She always had words of encouragment and support for anyone who needed
it. Her love for life and others was palpable. At any given time Sue
could be seen running through the streets of Athens, especially up the
dreaded Madison Avenue hill. Running was a major part of her life, as
well as the rest of her family's. She frequented the 5k circuit and
even took on a few marathons with her husband by her side.
She was a
major supporter of Athens High School Cross Country and could be seen
cheering on the athletes including her daughter. Sue was also a big part of the Athens Community, working as a psychologist, and an adjunct professor at Ohio University. Because of this, the
Sue Apple Memorial 5k (Sponsored by the Alpha Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota) is a great way to honor such an amazing woman. It
is a worthy cause, for an extraordinary lady.
Proceeds from this race go towards the Sue Apple Scholarship Fund, awarded to a 2nd year Master's counseling student at Ohio University.
